This course is designed to increase your leadership effectiveness by:

  • Raising your level of self-awareness and emotional intelligence.

  • Improving your understanding of the mental models that you use to think, act and lead.

Ian Brooks’ workshop is a mix of theory, group discussions, experiential exercises, and sessions consisting of unstructured group interaction known as T-groups.

In these sessions participants share their observations of each other through feedback, and they begin to gain a more objective picture of their own behaviour and how it impacts others. Participants learn what behaviour makes them most effective as a leader / colleague, and what reactive behaviours unintentionally limit their effectiveness.

This style of learning is used by leading universities such as Stanford and Case Western on their MBA and executive education programmes to teach soft leadership skills. It’s hands-on, positive, and very powerful.

What does this course involve?

  • Online completion of personality assessment prior to the course.

  • Participants coming to the workshop with clear developmental goals.

  • A three-day workshop [8.30am-5pm]. [The course is limited to 9 people].

  • The course assessment consists of a reflective journal that requires you to summarise your key learnings and discuss how you will apply that learning back in your workplace.

  • This activity brings closure and integration to the various activities, and serves as a solid foundation for future action

  • A one-hour post-course follow-up session is offered to consolidate learning and share how learning has been applied back in the workplace.

This course can count towards clinical professional development requirements. You can gain academic credits for this course, enabling you to work towards a Postgraduate Certificate in Strategic Leadership if you wish.

“This course has been life changing for me both at work and outside of work. Being able to learn so much about yourself in a few days is incredible, but also what you can learn about others makes this course so valuable in being a successful leader. I can't recommend it highly enough to those taking on leadership roles.” SMO

“This course exceeded my expectations. I feel transformed! I am clear now about what it is that I can work on to improve the interactions I have with other people. I have set a few behavioural challenges for myself which I know I can achieve”. Section Head
