There are 3 ways we can access learning opportunities…

  1. Formal learning:

    • Classroom-based learning

    • Books, articles and white papers

    • eLearning (online learning)

  2. Informal learning:

    • Professional networks

    • Coaching and mentoring

    • 1-on-1 meetings with your manager

    • Feedback from around you

  3. Experiential:

    1. Learning while doing your everyday work

    2. Working on tasks and problems

    3. On the job experience

Where do we learn the most? On the job (experiential)! So what can you do to provide these experiences?

Provide challenging projects on the job…

  • Leading new projects

  • Increasing job scope

  • Opportunities to reflect and correct

  • Providing secondment opportunities
